In Venice, the cavàna is the traditional covered shelter for boats, and in the terminology of those who use boats or gondolas for work, andar in cavàna means the end of the working day. Near Campo Santi Apostoli, we restored an old cavàna and, since 2006, have turned it into a restaurant: A La Vecia Cavana.
We wanted to preserve the original columns, brick arches, and mooring hooks to recreate the atmosphere of a lesser-known Venice. We offer traditional Venetian recipes as well as original dishes from Italian cuisine, all prepared by our chefs with creativity and flair.
We pay special attention to the selection of wines to accompany our menus. Our wine list features a selection from many Italian regions, with a particular preference for wines from Friuli and for the most prestigious vintage bottles.
