On your left, you can see the island of San Clemente. The most ancient news of the construction of the church dates back to 1100 with the annexed hospital for travelers waiting to board towards the Holy Land.

Around 1400 the Lateran canonical monks settled in San Clemente and expanded the convent restoring the church. From 1873 until 1992, the island housed a women’s asylum.

It was later renovated and transformed into a luxury hotel, managed by the Kempinski group.
