In the small hallway that connects the Sala del Maggior Consiglio to the Scrutinio Hall there are two bronze commemorative plaques on both sides of the window: the first commemorates the result of the 1866 Veneto plebiscite that confirmed the annexation of the Venetian provinces and Mantua to the Kingdom of Italy at the end of the Third Italian War of Independence, while the second plaque celebrates the vote of April 2, 1849 that decreed the all-out resistance of the Republic of San Marco against the Austrian Empire.
