The workshop “La Ricerca” opened in 1992 thanks to Alessandro Scipioni‘s mother, and now he is carrying on the family business together with his father Italo. Born as a bookbindery, later the business specialized in the creation of handmade pieces made of leather, hide or marbled paper.
Marbling is a technique of chromatic decoration on paper, fabric or leather that in some motifs imitates a marble surface by reproducing the patches of color. It consists in placing the material on the surface of a bath specially prepared by the craftsman. In this way, the pattern is formed thanks to the properties of the colors that float and expand on the liquid in the bath.
Among the many objects made by “La Ricerca” you can find address books, key rings, notebooks, frames, sketchbooks, masks – perfect for a high-quality handmade souvenir.
